GOAL: Develop a book that highlights my senior year social issue and provides an overview of my senior year as a whole.

Arizona State University's Design School hosts an annual exhibition featuring the senior graphic designer final project. Part of this exhibition includes each student creating a book exploring their chosen social issue, communicating its importance while also reflecting on their senior year and their projects.

CORAL BLEACHING

Coral bleaching, caused by rising sea temperatures, disrupts the symbiotic relationship between corals and algae, leading to coral stress, disease, and potential death. This threatens coral reef ecosystems, which are vital for biodiversity, coastal protection, and socioeconomic stability. The global impacts of coral bleaching include disruptions to food security, economic stability, and climate resilience, affecting millions worldwide.

THE BOOK

As part of our senior year exhibit, each of us created a book detailing the journey of our final year. These books focus primarily on our individual exhibit topics but also include all the projects we completed throughout the year, along with our reflections and final thoughts on the experience.

For my book, centered on coral bleaching, I wanted the cover to capture the severity of the issue to stand out on my exhibit board. I chose a stark, impactful image of bleached coral reefs to reflect the gravity of my topic.
