GOAL: Convey instructions into visual images without using any words or directions.
I had the option to select from three distinct recipes centered around braiding techniques: braided bread, braided pizza, and pie with a braided crust. After choosing my preferred recipe, I was tasked with transforming the written instructions and provided ingredients into visual illustrations. These illustrations were required to maintain a uniform scale, perspective, and artistic approach.
For my recipe project, I opted to transform it into a book inspired by the TV series Bob's Burgers, which happens to be one of my personal favorites. The book revolves around the character Jimmy Pesto, who serves as the arch-nemesis of the main character, Bob Belcher, in the show. Jimmy runs an Italian restaurant opposite Bob's place, and in my book, I delve into Jimmy's family dynamics (including Jimmy Jr., Andy, and Ollie) and his colleague, Trevor.
I strived to infuse my book with the same ambiance as the TV show's universe, incorporating jokes and quotes reminiscent of those found in the series. Additionally, the pages containing ingredients or instructions are adorned with backgrounds featuring locations/scenes from the show, presented in a line art style akin to the credit sequences seen at the show's conclusion.
